RE: Fans Collective Petition – Scottish Football Association: Void Season 2019/20 and Restructure Scottish Football.(Not exhaustive at this point in time – date per this email header.)
Firstly and most importantly I hope that you and your families are all well during this tumultuous time.
I also want to thank you for the ongoing updates in regard to (Coronavirus – Joint Response Group)
https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/news/coronavirus-joint-response-group-update-16-march/?rid=13929 & https://spfl.co.uk/news/joint-response-group-update-160320.
As you will likely have noted, I have initiated a fans collective petition, as per the subject line of this email and I hope that we might open dialogue in regards to this, where any decisions regarding the continuity of the current league season and furthermore; the structure of the leagues within Scottish Football, I might participate as a voice for the ‘collective’ fan groups, especially and limited to the points noted in my petition. I might reserve the right to encourage one (1) colleague to assist me, should we come to agreement that our petition is valid.
As you will note, the petition is widely supported by fans of the majority of clubs within Scottish football and this initial contact to you comes as we have surpassed the average attendance of none other than professional team; Hamilton Academical FC, this season (https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scottish-premiership/besucherzahlen/wettbewerb/SC1/plus/?saison_id=2019). Much respect to Accies team and staff, I do not use this comment to cause offence to them, merely to acknowledge an initial benchmark in petition signatories, and thus, you might take seriously, our propositions to you Scottish Football Association (and board members) and Scottish Professional Football League (and board members).
The wording of my petition remains specific in it’s nature that I would insist you should include signatories in the ongoing discussions regarding points 1 & 2 below, via myself (and 1 other colleague) as the ‘fans’ representative of the petition:
For your logical and kind consideration, we the signees request points 1 & 2 below be ordered and put into practice, for the benefit of sporting integrity in Scotland.
As we find ourselves amidst a clear global pandemic with COVID-19, and respectfully where football is but a small part of this world we live in, it is clear that for the safety of supporters and for the general public, this season football events in the UK may be delayed for a prolonged period of time and in that, there may be insufficient time to conclude the ongoing competitions before the next season is due to begin.
A logical conclusion would be to void the current season, and make good from the health crisis which is before us by adopting the following recommendations, which are the detailed requests of this petition, as requested by the total number of signatures put to you. This petition requests The Scottish Football Association and Scottish Professional Football League to void the current season and order a full restructuring of all Leagues and Cup competitions within Scottish Football:
1. To bring into existence a top tier of 18 ‘Premiership’ teams, 18 ‘Championship’ teams and begin at a suitable date in the future, when safe to do so with lower leagues collated likewise, for the best of equality within our sport.2. In voiding the current league season, SFA and SPFL should allocate fully, any prize monies which would have been won by top teams who mathematically accomplish the winning of competitions unfinished, to lower league / grassroots teams in an equal offering of amounts.
Two logical and simple recommendations which we see as making the best of a serious situation, creating positive outlook for the future of Scottish Football, and taking a worrying crisis, and showing leadership, equality and sporting integrity.
Note that where it is wholly acknowledged that it is not the place of the fans to determine which club or clubs might be entitled to display season 2019/20 silverware through the course of the next season, where specific competitions cannot be concluded due to the ongoing global pandemic; we would appreciate being granted dialogue with you and be included in any conversations on the sharing of the prize monies from unfinished professional club football competitions in Scotland.
The petition, as you read, specifically asks that your respectful organisations might consider the ordering of prize monies, that competitions not completed to any club winning accomplishments, should be withheld from all clubs and shared, for the benefit of 1. A full restructure of our leagues and 2. Grassroots and juvenile football in Scotland.
